Ever bring a child to church? It is hard sometimes, but it is so important! Often it is hard to concentrate, pray and worship with your kids needing your attention during Mass, and often it is hard for kids to connect with the Mass and understand all that is going on. That is why we have The Children’s Liturgy of the Word during the 11:00am Mass each Sunday (except during the Summer.) In The Children’s Liturgy we read the same Gospel that is being read in Church that week, but it is an age-appropriate version, written especially for kids. All children are welcome and encouraged to attend. No pre-registration is required.
Each week before The Liturgy of the Word begins in the Mass, the children are called forward along with the weekly volunteer leader and dismissed to the adjoining Chapel in the rear of the Church. During this special time, the volunteer teacher leads the children through prayers, songs, the reading of the Gospel, discussions and sometimes even games or activities that help the children connect with the Scripture reading for that week and apply it to their daily lives. The children return to their families after the homily.
Volunteers are needed to teach the lessons each week. This is a great opportunity for adults and high school youth to help these eager youngsters learn the Word of the Lord and hear about God’s great love for them.
