This very powerful and beautiful Sacrament is administered by a priest to a baptized person who is of advanced age, is planning to undergo surgery or serious hospitalization, or is near death because of illness or age or sudden traumatic event. The Sacrament is administered through prayer and the anointing of the person's body with the oil of the sick. The proper effects of the Sacrament include a special grace of healing and comfort to the infirmities of serious illness or old age, and the forgiving of the person's sins.
If a parishioner is admitted to one of the hospitals within the immediate area (St. Peter's University Hospital, Robert Wood Johnson Univeristy Hospital, or Princeton Health - Penn Medicine in Plainsboro), please contact the Parish Office at (732) 329-2893 so we are aware of your loved one's status.
Should the Sacrament need to be administered, one of the Chaplains on call at the hospital will be able to provide the care and support the patient and their family needs. A special request may be made of Fr. Charlie if a Chaplain is unavailable.
