Altar Servers are an essential part of our Liturgical experience at St. Cecilia Parish. Assistance at the Altar helps make each Liturgy more reverent and flow smoothly to facilitate prayer and worship.
The role of the Altar Server is to assist the Priest in the celebration of the Mass.
Some of the Altar Server responsibilities include:
• Caring for the Sacred vessels
• Bearing the cross and candles in the entrance procession
• Assisting with water, bread and wine at the offertory of the Mass
• Assist the Priest celebrant (and Deacon) as necessary.
For most Masses, servers should be in the Narthex and vested at least 10 minutes before Mass.
All boys and girls grade 3 and above
are welcome to train as youth altar servers.
We also welcome adult men and women
to participate in the ministry as adult servers.
